Updates on Business Energy Tax Credit and Residential Energy Tax Credit Programs

RESULTS OF BETC TIER 2 APPLICATION SCREENING

The BETC application process for renewable energy tax credits has changed as a result of legislation passed in 2010. Three tiers, based on tax credit amounts, were established with specific requirements, including a competitive review and award process for Tiers Two and Three. Results of the initial screening of 33 applications for Tier Two Business Energy Tax Credit (BETC) for renewable energy projects were announced August 5th. Ten applications are now eligible to move forward through the BETC Preliminary Certification process.

DEADLINES EXTENDED TO MEET RESIDENTIAL ENERGY TAX CREDIT RULES

Oregon Department of Energy announced on July 30 the extension of deadlines for installation contracts and project completion deadlines for installing solar PV, solar hot water, wind devices, wood pellet stoves and heat pumps that are eligible for the Residential Energy Tax Credit. The new deadlines are for those wanting to proceed with certification under the pre-July 1, 2010 temporary rules and also apply to the purchase of qualifying energy-efficient appliances.
